Priming The Tuition Pump

.

(Please Pin and FB share the collage!)

With two kids in college now, second year running, we've all been working hard keeping up with the growing expenses that come along with the opportunity.

In an effort to prime the tuition pump and feeling inspired that "Christmas in July" corresponds with "Pay The Tuition," I have a bit of a sale going on.  Buy 4 / Get 5 monogrammed embroidered 14" pillow covers.  You can start working off your Christmas shopping list, and I can work on keeping these kids in college so they can take care of me when I fall apart doing so!  See the calicodaisy etsy link for details.

Fresh Coral

.
Coral is the new color of the season (at CDH anyway) and ranges from orange/peach to watermelon/pink, and everyone seems to have a different shade in mind. Why do I know this? Three orders for "coral" in a row, and each gal expressed her choice in various ways. One client was pretty specific hoping to match the decor she already had, so I sent her to the internet to find the fabric!  Doing that actually works out well, because the savvy ones know how to find great sources for me.
.
.
The client found a fabric site that has fabulous shades all around of the fabric I use for my pillow covers, and I was able to order several different shades.  I created a little "Shades of Coral" collage to send around to the coral lovers to choose from.

Half the year is gone!  I put the shop on hiatus while covering for coworkers out on holiday, and the idea was to replace studio work hours with the day job work hours and clear up the mind for holiday item preparation.  Best laid plans and all ...  I think I need to add another week of planning time.  The work schedule shows four days off from Saturday to Tuesday this week, so I am going to attempt to bring on a holiday state of mind in the 100-degree weather and pull out the red and green.  Meanwhile, peach ice cream is on my mind.
