Four Needs

Birthday / Age T-shirt

I need to show you these little shirts. Aren't they cute? I know I didn't come up with the idea, but I'm glad I can carry out the design. These are in my shop.

Family Room

I need your advice. Do any of you have a home full of wood paneling? My house has beautiful paneling, real wood, gorgeous, but I just can't figure out how to brighten up the place. I think part of it is the placement of furniture in this long room. If it was a bit longer, I could set up two separate areas, one for sitting and chatting and the other for watching TV. I have purchased a number of fabrics for draperies at the windows around the fireplace. If you look here at this set, you can see more of my upstairs area. The dining room is fine. The kitchen cabinets will be painted eventually. We already have a new counter top, and I'm planning on subway tile around from the sink to the fridge. It's just the family room that I can't pin down, so I haven't done anything. But I need to get on it; we have been here for five years!

I need your help. My kids are great at putting anything they want on their facebooks, but both of them tell me they don't know how to put a button on their pages leading their friends to my esty shop, though they want their friends to see the items I have, well, they say they do. I have the button and link code already done. However, I don't want to figure out facebook, so .... Could someone just tell me -- so I can tell them - how to do it? Thanks.

Habitat For Humanity Fundraising Idea

We still need/hope to sell 17 more of the special coffee sleeves we created to fund Camille's Habitat for Humanity trip coming up. Will you consider purchasing one? They are in the shop, and all the proceeds go directly to the trip expense. We would really appreciate it, and the sleeves are pretty cute. Thanks again!

There's a "Share Link" option on their page...that might work... I'll email you a screen print of what I'm talking about.

I think what you kind of want is something that looks more like your sidebar on the blog... maybe you can ask Etsy if they have any idea who to do it?

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I quilt, knit, crosstitch, and everything else too, so I'll take a look at your blog. Good luck with your crafting. I'll keep peeking in - I shop etsy a LOT for gifts, so I'll check that out too.

Have you thought about painting the paneling in your room? I have a friend that had a similar room and she painted the paneling and put in some recessed lighting in the room and it looks fantastic! If you don't want to paint, adding some recessed lighting would help brighten everything up.

Hi thank you for popping across to my blog. Those t-shirts are so cute.
As for your panelling I would paint it but you might not want to if it's original.
Love your blog glad to be the first to follow, well the first to show anyway.

I love natural wood, but it is hard to brighten a room when it's paneled in it. We had natural wood from the chair rails down and panted dry wall above, that was my favorite living room of all the houses I have lived in. I got the brightness of the painted walls with the luxury of the natural wood all in one!

Hey there,

We had wood paneling -- we still do actually, but I forget it is there. We covered it with liner paper, then primed and painted it. Email me if you need info on liner paper.

I will post a link to your wonderful fundraiser -- as soon as I recover from tomorrow's field trip!

Hello! If your wood panelling is really lovely wood then don't paint it, though if it's varnished and stained then you could remove the varnish and wash over with transparent white, or lime it so you can still see the grain. Instead I would paint the brickwork, this would reflect light back into the room.

Well, it seems everyone has had the same idea about your paneling that I had. Paint! Watching some of the different DIY shows they paint a lot of the paneling and it comes out really nice! It would sure brighten it up too! I don't mind paneling if you want it in like a den or library... but yeah, I'm with you... it would be warmer nicer if it had some color to it!

I think it's sacreligious to paint over beautiful woodwork. Have you considered hanging light colored quilts on the wall to accent focal points in the room and create lighter colored expanses on the walls without damaging the paneling? I love the look of a quilt behind a chair or bookcase.
